Nichia Requires Billion Light To Compensate For Patent Infringement

 Nichia (Nichia) has been insisting on patent infringement to billion optoelectronics (Everlight Electronics) and its subsidiaries Wofi Leuchten GmbH claims before its YAG patent expires.

In July 2017, the local court in Dusseldorf, Germany, ruled that Wofi violated 12 patents in white LED products, EP 936 682 (DE 697 929), and Wofi appealed to the Düsseldorf Court of Appeal.But the German-based Wofi withdrew the appeal on October 1, so the decision of the District Court became final.

In December 2016, the Düsseldorf Court of Appeal ruled that Taiwan Province was infringing six white-light led product patents.appealed to the German Federal court, but withdrew the case on October 1, making the decision of the Court of Appeal final.

The company and its subsidiaries withdrew the cases because the patent expired on July 29, 2017 and did not affect existing products, he said.

However, Nichia that although the patent has expired, but it has the right to demand billion light and wofi compensation before the loss caused by the infringement.
